Undo transaction history

One user action should have a coherent way back. Ancam Edit is a Windows workspace for exploring editor history code with AI, keeping the before state, the new state and the proposed transaction boundary available for review.

Connect an editing action to the state it should preserve

Ancam Edit is a Windows coding workspace for developing software through a project conversation and reviewable source changes. An editor feature often spans more than a command handler: document state, history and user expectations must agree. Bring one editing action into the conversation and explain what should remain true before and after it.

The history example offers a concrete case: a compound edit records before and after states and clears redo history when a change occurs. Use it to discuss your own editor implementation. It is example project code, not a claim that Ancam Edit supplies that undo system as an application feature.

Ask the model to inspect the command path before suggesting where the transaction belongs. Review whether the proposed code preserves a usable prior state, avoids recording a no-op and handles the next action after undo. Then exercise those sequences in your project and run its history tests; an isolated snapshot helper cannot establish the complete interaction.

An unfiltered AI model can be selected when your supported OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic endpoint makes one available. Provide credentials when required and account for the model's context and tool support. The selection does not change who decides whether the patch preserves the editor's behavior: that decision follows your review and checks.

Planning a change to editing behavior

What belongs in a request about a compound edit?

Describe the user action, the intended document result and what one undo should restore. Include the command handler and history code that currently participate. This helps define a transaction without assuming every intermediate operation is separately reversible.

Should an action that changes nothing create a history entry?

Define that behavior explicitly for your editor. The supplied example avoids recording equal before and after states, but your application may have additional selection or metadata rules. Review those alongside document equality before accepting a change.

How should I check redo after a new edit?

Perform an edit, undo it, then make a different edit and inspect the available redo behavior. Compare it with your intended history rules. Include that sequence in project tests if it captures the defect being corrected.

Does choosing a local model preserve all editor content locally?

A local model requires its own running server and only describes that endpoint. Other tools may still contact external services. Review the paths taken by selected project context and use representative documents when real content is sensitive.
